The Egyptian Lover started out as a DJ with the premier Los Angeles dance promoter “Uncle Jam’s Army”. He also DJ’d at Club Radio with the likes of Chris “The Glove” Taylor and “Ice T”. Egyptian Lover started recording beats like the legendary “Breakin’ and Entering” soundtrack. In 1982 he recorded “Dial-a-Freak”, “Yes,Yes,Yes”, and several beats for Uncle Jam’s Army.
Having been on tour since 1983, the Egyptian Lover is the godfather of Electro. I think he may be the kind of artist who speaks about himself in the third person, but he is original 80’s cool – like mixtapes and Soda Streams.
